Turn it Off !	You will be surprised at the proportion of problems which are the result of temporary (and irritating) 'glitches'. Simply try turning it off and on again.
Next check for Power	If you can turn it off and on again, then you obviously have Power. However, if it seems completely dead then run through the checks on this page. Note: some of this is very basic
Next assuming that you have power	What is displayed on the screen? totally blank, and the light(s) on the front are off. totally blank, but the light(s) on the front are on. From switch-on the information on the screen is jumbled / distorted/ un-readable When it first starts up I can read the screen, but when Windows starts the display becomes distorted, or else I get an error message or blue screen. Notebook computers: The first 3 choices above would almost certainly indicate a hardware problem. It is best to contact the manufacturer for advice in the first instance.
