These days many threats await the unwary computer user; these are detailed on our threats page. To avoid becoming a victim it is necessary to have a number of precautions in place such as anti-virus software, and to be very prudent in your on-line behaviour.

This is the recognised 'onion-skin' approach to security; one layer of defence if not enough.

A multi-layered approcah to computer securityBackup your data

The single most important precaution you can take is to backup your data. The data used in your business is the most valuable part of your computer system.

Install Security Software

To defend your business against the varied threats, you need a range of software such as anti-virus and anti-spam software.

Be Vigilant

Be conscious of the ways in which your system could become compromised, and always be prudent and cautious.

As computer use becomes increasingly widespread, the threats to your computers from malicious software and other approaches increases. These threats can slow your system down, damage it so that only a complete re-installation will repair it, or access you personal information and bank details.

These threats can be divided into two groups Malicious Software and Other Dangers including a lack of care and attention.

Malicious Software takes the form of Viruses, Worms, Trojans etc. Other threats include Spam and 'Phising' emails which try to get you to disclose sensitive information. Another problem may be 'Hackers' who try to gain access to your computer to control it or steal data. Finally there are 'teenagers' - this group often appear and behave computer savvy, but yet may be unaware of the hazards out there on the Internet.

Our focus is as much on YOU the 'user' and your staff; as on your systems and configuration. A aim is to help you avoid problems so that problems with your system do not interrupt your business.
